Abortion: Compromise with Evil is of Itself Evil

Robert Hutcheson The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (H.R. 1797) is likely to be considered in the U.S. House of Representatives this week. I urge you to contact your Representative and ask them to support this important pro-life bill. Cardinal O’Malley, Chairman of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Pro-Life Activities sent a letter to Congress on June 14th urging support of H.R. 1797. Now your support is needed in taking action to protect the lives of the unborn. Please continue to pray for the respect of human life from conception to natural death.

Douglass Bartley Robert: I respectfully dissent. The bill is a compromise with evil. As Pope St. Felix III put it: “Not to oppose error is to approve it; and not to defend truth is to suppress it; and indeed to neglect to confound evil men, when we can do it, is no less a sin than to encourage them.”

What we need is a clean bill prohibiting all abortion. Anything less sets the truth back even longer than otherwise. Abortionists will use the compromise to block any action to prohibit universally the crime.

The Bill has passed. Far, far better it would have been had the “Republican” House (within its powers) have begun impeachment proceedings against those Republicans who have made the crime legitimate, starting with Justice Sandra (“Undue Burden”) Day O’Conner and Justice (“Mystery Passage”) Kennedy and other RINOs who have enabled the continuation of the atrocities. For now, forget the Demos, like Pelosi (“Sacred ground” of abortion), Biden, and Obama. Clean house in the Republican Party first. And find out why the six Republicans who voted “Nay” did so.
