Impeachment: Only Effective Remedy

It is reported that Republicans, as usual, are ruling out what is the most proper remedy against the lawlessness of Obama. They are talking about a lawsuit against him—as if that would solve the problem. Even assuming the unlikely—that a court would have the courage to rule against Obama—such a ruling would have no necessary deterrent effect.

Republicans need to learn hardball. The only appropriate remedy against him is impeachment: Republicans ought to learn the word “impeach”. Controlling, even now a majority of the House, the Republicans could and should impeach now and try to convict in January—even if then there might only be a slim chance of conviction. If nothing more, history would show that the scofflaw president was at least indicted for his malfeasance and that there were consequences.

O’s directive is far worse than Truman’s seizure of the steel mills condemned by Justice Black, an FDR appointment, and the court’s majority in the 1950s. Truman’s rationale was that the seizure was an emergency measure. Obama doesn’t even have that emergency claim here.

Moreover is Obama guilty of perjury? Oath of Office “I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” The president is always bound by the oath of office. Thus is it not true? that when Obama issued his executive order on amnesty, knowing full well from his previous statements (above) that he had no power to issue that order, he lied under oath, and that is perjury.
