Glenn Grothman: Our Steadfast Squish

Report on Congressman Glenn Grothman R?(so-called)-Wis

A disgrace to the name “Conservative”

62% (F) conservative rating

From Conservative Review @

Glenn Grothman was elected to represent the 6th Congressional District in Wisconsin in 2014. Grothman fills the seat held by Tom Petri (R-WI), who retired after more than 35 years in the House of Representatives.

Grothman served in the Wisconsin Senate for 10 years, holding the position of Assistant Majority Leader for the last four years of his tenure. Grothman won his State Senate seat after challenging sitting Majority Leader Mary Panzer in the 2004 Republican primary.

Prior to his time in the Wisconsin Senate, Grothman served in the Wisconsin State Assembly for 12 years, where he was vice chairman of the Assembly’s Republican caucus for five years. He also has a law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

Grothman is know for being vocal about his conservative worldview and does not sugarcoat his unpopular stances. He arrived in Congress with a solid reputation from his time in the Wisconsin state legislature. While on the campaign trail he expressed an eagerness to introduce real limited government reforms, he has also been quick to settle for the next best thing—often times a death knell for conservative principles.

His first act in Congress was to support Speaker Boehner’s reelection as head of the conference despite campaigning against Speaker Boehner. Soon thereafter he helped author an education bill that would perpetuate many of the federalized standards he claims to abhor. Lastly Grothman claimed to “fight tirelessly” against amnesty, but yet when push came to shove Grothman opposed the key procedural vote that would have stopped funding for President Obama’s executive amnesty. Instead Grothman voted against the funding bill on final passage, an inconsistent position at best and misleading at worst.

Grothman said he would be insulted if constituents told him he resembled the previous 17-term officeholder Congressman Petri. Perhaps it is time for Grothman to feel insulted.
